Figures of sublime in Lucian Blaga’s aesthetics and philosophy
The following paper will present and discuss some of the main features of the aesthetic category of sublime and the manner in which they are reflected by certain philosophical texts belonging to Lucian Blaga. Divided into three parts, the presentation below will focus at first on a diachronic perspective of sublime, dealing with some representative approaches. Afterwards it will reveal and comment upon several concepts from Blaga’s philosophical theories which are based on contradictory forces and strains out of the common perception. The final part integrates the previous discussion into a larger paradigm and aims to demonstrate the antimodernity of Lucian Blaga’s literature, having as a basis Antoine Compagnon’s study, Les Antimodernes.
Keywords: aesthetics, sublime, Lucian Blaga, philosophy, Antoine Compagnon, antimodernity.
