Aichelburg: the first years of exile
This article is an analysis of Aichelburg’s first years in Germany. It deals with the first three volumes of poetry Aichelburg published on German ground, after his escape from Romania, i.e. Aller Ufer Wiederschein, Anhalter Bahnhof, Corrida and their critical reception. The analysis focuses on several short stories the author published in German publications of the time, between cultural events, reading nights, conferences or musical events. Worte als Gefahr und Gefahrdung by Peter Motzan and Stefan Sienerth had a significant impact on German readership mainly because of the fact that it reminded them of the five writers sentenced by communist authorities after the so-called Trial of the German Writers, i.e. Hans Bergel, Harald Siegmund, George Scherg, Andreas Birkner and Wolf von Aichelburg. In recognition to his literary achievements in Germany, Aichelburg was awarded the Siebenbürgisch-sächsischer Literaturpreis.
